GREEN, ORGANIC AND PRINTED
ULTRA-HIGH FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION TAGS

GRETA project offers a radically new technology for passive UHF tags, based on organic printed electronics with drastically reduced lifecycle impact and costing with respect to any available passive RFID technology.

GRETA will achieve its aim by pursuing the following verifiable objectives:

Objective 1

Green synthesis and development of sustainable and biodegradable materials

Objective 2

Sustainable inks formulations for large-area printing tools

Objective 3

UHF electronics based on printed organic semiconductors

Objective 4

Enable an eco-designed, printed UHF wireless tag with sustainable lifecycle

GRETA work plan comprises 9 Work Packages (WPs).

WP1

WP1 is focused on identifying specifications of the tag and its components first, and on their circuital and eco co-design.

WP2

WP1 will be actively informed by WP2, which is a key WP designed to quantitatively assess the sustainability of the developed solutions. Therefore, it will be possible to adapt the eco-design to minimize the LCA indicators with results collected in the project. WP2 will receive data from all WPs involving new and/or green materials and components in order to perform the LCA&LCC.

WP3

WP3 is dedicated to the synthesis of sustainable materials and inks, as well as to the introduction of sustainable substrates and dielectrics: it receives results on sustainability from WP2 and delivers materials to WP4&5, dedicated to components.

WP4

WP4 will develop the UHF tag components.

WP5

WP5 is focused on the printed tag logic.

WP6

WP4&5 will feed WP6 together with the eco-design of WP1 for the realization of the demonstrators.

WP7

WP7 is focused on communication, dissemination and exploitation.

WP8

WP8 is focused on project coordination and management.

WP9

WP9 is devoted to the Portfolio management.
